About the Courses : Nurses are the largest single group of healthcare providers in the India. Over the years, Professionals nurses have shed their handmaiden role to become caregivers on the frontline of health care.

Objective of the Course :
  • Develop skills in first-aid and emergency nursing care, elementary medical care including treatment of minor ailments.
  • Lead & motivate as a responsible member of the health team.
  • To understand and develop Community resources which could be utilized for health promotion, health maintenance, and prevention of disease.
  • Develop training module for the training of community/village level health worker.
  • Promote community development activities.
Eligibility :

Admission requirements 

Eligibility Criteria: 10th / +2 passed or its equivalent with 50% marks 

Age Limit: 17 to 20 years old 

Duration : 2years

CODE OF CONDUCT :

The nursing college would stress on disciplined behavior of every student in and outside the campus. Any student who violates the rules and regulations will be expelled immediately.

MODE OF EXAMINATION :

  • At the end of every academic year,, the Examination Board for Nursing Students of Government of Tamilnadu will conduct the examination. To get a pass, the students should score 50 % in each subject and each practical examination.
  • Supplementary Examination
  • If a student fails, the Board shall conduct supplementary examination within six months of the annual examination.
  • If a student fails in one theory paper / practical, she may be allowed to proceed to the next year of study, She will sit for a supplementary examination held subsequently in the failed subject / practical. If she fails to clear supplementary examination she shall be allowed to sit again along with her next year annual examination.
  • If a student fails in two or more papers or practical she will not be allowed to proceed to the next year. She will be allowed for supplementary examination in the failed subjects/practical only but will be eligible for the next year’s examination after one academic year from the date of passing the last examination.
  • No candidate of category (a) shall be allowed to proceed to third year course, unless she has passed in the subject of the previous year. (backing to the second year)
  • If a student fails in one theory paper / practical examination of third year, she may be allowed to proceed for internship. She will be allowed to sit for supplementary examination held subsequently for the failed subject / practical.

DONA (Diploma in Ophthalmic Nursing Assistant) – 2 years Duration

              Diploma in Ophthalmic Nursing Assistant – 2years diploma courses offering from Vinayaga nursing college in collaboration with The Tamil Nadu Dr MGR Medical University, Chennai.

Ophthalmic Nursing Assistant programme will enhance ophthalmic competencies and to take up extended roles in ophthalmic settings. It will equip the nurses with skill and bridge the theory and practice. It will offer structured learning to attain the necessary ophthalmic nursing skills to support patient care effectively and efficiently. 

The programme is led and delivered by staff in clinical practice and the ophthalmic multidisciplinary team will support the programme by offering teaching sessions and support the students in achieving new skills. 


Objective of the Course 

  • Apply evidence based knowledge in ophthalmic nursing practice and meet the needs of ophthalmic clients in all the healthcare settings. 
  • Identify and predict the implications of visual impairment on activities of daily living and construct appropriate plan of care. 
  • Identify key strategies to develop own professional competencies in ophthalmic nursing 
  • Utilize variety of methods and technologies, to develop and apply analytical skills in ophthalmic nursing practice.
Scope of Ophthalmic Nursing Assistant Course :
  • Working in partnership with the multidisciplinary team in ophthalmic clinics and hospitals.
  • Acting as a primary and secondary resource to patients, care takers and health care professionals in community health centre 
  • Liaising and referring to other health sectors & disciplines

B.Sc Medical Record Science Course - 3 Years Duration :

                    The course shall be called “BACHELOR OF MEDICAL RECORD SCIENCE” (BMRSc) under the Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University, Chennai. The course shall be of three years. The course is designed to enable students to acquire knowledge and skill in Medical Record Science and information so that after passing the final examination, they can function as qualified Health Record professionals.

Objectives :

  1. To have an exposure to the vast strides in the classification and codification of drugs, diseases and their treatment, and in the organization of hospitals.
  2. To acquire sufficient knowledge of the prevailing system of scientific documentation with computerization, information search and retrieval.
  3. To acquire knowledge of the networking of hospitals and institutions by the Internet and Intranet.
  4. To get familiarity with large databases dealing with various categories of entities such as diseases, pathological conditions, symptoms, drugs and concepts such as ‘data mining’
  5. To acquire knowledge of the current trends in Medical Record Science like health insurance and third party payers.
  6. To integrate advanced knowledge and skills in health care data.
  7. Apply effective communication skills and strategies in interactions with multidisciplinary and multi-facility professionals.
ELIGIBILITY :

Candidates would have passed the qualifying examinations after a period of 12 years of study in the following subjects: English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

Candidates should have passed in all subjects of the qualifying examination of the Higher Secondary Certificate Examination (Academic) conducted by the Tamil Nadu State Board or any other equivalent examination in one and the same attempt in the subjects.


AGE LIMIT FOR ADMISSION

Candidates should have completed the age of 17 years at the time of admission or should complete the said age or or before 31st December of the said year.

DURATION OF THE COURSE

The duration of certified study of the BMRSc. course shall extend over a period of 3(three) academic years followed by six months of compulsory paid Internship.

MEDIUM OF INSTRUCTION

English shall be the medium of instruction for all the subjects of study of the BMRSc. degree course.
